More Ohio Polling

This poll looks a lot more like what I think reality is on the ground in Ohio. This poll is by Rasmussen, which put out the very odd Illinois numbers two weeks ago. As I suspect, the race appears to be a deadheat:

(MoE = 4%)
Bush - 46%
Kerry - 44%

An important number to watch in Ohio will be Bush's job approval rating. Right now it stands at 50% while disapproval is at 49%. This approval number is a bit higher than the national level - an interesting trend for the important swing state. Keep an eye on that.

New Illini and Buckeye Polls

There have been a flurry of new state polls in the past few days. The two states that I have been following, Illinois, my home state, and Ohio, where I go to school, are showing very different results. First Illinois:

Chicago Tribune/WGN-TV
(MoE = 4%)
Kerry - 54%
Bush - 38%

In Ohio things seem to be swinging wildly. Previous polls have put Kerry a nudge ahead of Bush, but this one, from the Cleveland Plain Dealer has Bush ahead:

(MoE = 2.6%!)
Bush - 47%
Kerry - 41%

Illinois is obviously a lock for Kerry. Ohio seems to be living up to its battleground reputation. This one will go down to the wire.
